Jockamo: An Indianapolis Favorite

Have you ever heard of Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza?  Well, I hadn't heard of it until I moved to the Indianapolis area.  I have friends that would rave about this pizza place.  I went to Jockamo for the first time a couple years ago for my birthday.  It was really good, but it's not exactly close to me.  So, when a friend wanted to go out to eat, I recommended going there.  We ate at the Jockamo in the Irvington neighborhood.

Jockamo doesn't disappoint!  This place is known for it's specialty pizzas, like Greek and Seven Layer. There were so many awesome choices in pizza, it was really hard to decide what to get!  We decided to go with appetizers first!

Bread Sticks with Hummus
Our friends, Bryan and Andrew decided to go with the bread sticks and hummus.  Yes, at Jockamo, not only can you order cheese and tomato sauce to dip your bread sticks in, but you can also order hummus!  The bread sticks are a good size, and a small order comes with three with one sauce.
Artichoke Spinach Cheese Bread
Ian and I decided to go with the Spinach Artichoke Cheese Bread for our appetizer. It came with a marinara to dip it in.  The spinach and artichoke are in a paste and spread on top of a bread, and then, cooked.  I loved that it had the fresh tomato on top of the bread! This appetizer was really tasty!  When we go back, we will definitely get this again.
Half 7 Layer and Half Cheese Louise
One really awesome thing about Jockamos is, you can get your pizza toppings on half of the pizza. So, we got a half 7 Layer and half Cheese Louise.
The 7 Layer Pizza is a Mexican Style Pizza. The toppings of the 7 Layer pizza are: their homemade black bean dip, homemade salsa, tomato, black olive, green onion, and cheddar, served with sour cream.  This is the fist time I'll actually say, I didn't really like it!  It was a little bean heavy for my taste!  My boyfriend loved it! For me, it needed more salsa or something.
The ingredients on the Cheese Louise pizza are: cheddar, ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella, gouda, red onion, and bacon. This pizza was amazing!  Not only do the combination of the cheeses with their fresh marinara that they use as sauce taste awesome, but it has the perfect combination of red onion and bacon! I pretty much like anything with bacon on it! The sauce that Jockamo uses has a nice spicy kick to it.

Our friends Bryan and Andrew ordered half Greek and half Philly Jack.  The Greek has spinach, tomato, red onion, black olive, and feta cheese. The Philly Jack has Italian beef, green pepper, peppadew peppers, and pepper jack cheese.  They offered to let me taste their pizza, but by the time I had two pieces of our pizza and the spinach artichoke cheese bread, I was really full!
Jockamo has a nice atmosphere.  It is a place you can have a nice night out with friends or even take your family for a night out!  If you don't want to try their specialty pizzas, you can choose from a long list of toppings to create your own favorite kind of pizza.  Even though I didn't like the 7 Layer pizza, Ian did. I did love the spinach artichoke cheese bread and the Cheese Louise pizza!  I give Jockamos three and a half pizza pies out of four.  This is definitely a pizza worth trying!

  1. I love Jockamo's! Our favorite is the cajun pizza with the shrimp, but it's best if you ask them to put their 3-cheese blend on it. And their hummus is awesome! We've been to both locations. We haven't been for a while, but now I'm thinking we should go this weekend.

  2. Heather,

Thank you for the incredibly nice review. I'm sorry that I'm nearly a year late in seeing it, however.

I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the Cheese Louise and and Spin Art Bread. Even though the 7 Layer wasn't your thing, we've got a ton of other options for you to try.

I hope we see you again some time soon. Thanks again for your support.

    1. Thanks, Casey! Since we don't live in the Irvington Area, we usually end up at Jockamo about once a year! It's about time for us to make the Trek!
(Sorry it took me so long to see this post!)
      We'll see you soon!
